Description

Consider this episode my graduation! There were 3 (three) key things I wanted to achieve during my first run at this podcast. I wanted to challenge myself to focus on base hits versus home runs, as my boy Jay puts it. Focusing on base hits still advances me through the bases - maybe not as quick - but there is still progress.

Before even launching the first episode, I was in deep paralysis analysis and wanted to create this perfect roll out plan before officially announcing this project. Though honorable, it completely crippled me because nothing was ever good enough. With that said, I started to focus on the micro versus macro. I still have a vision for this project, but I am allowing the way I get there to be flexible i.e. giving myself grace and an opportunity to learn along the way.

With that said, these are the key take-aways from what I am considering my last episode of season 1:

  • Be Uncomfortable: Launching without having this drawn out plan wasn’t natural for me. It actually added more anxiety but it is something I needed to do. Because truthfully, if I approached this project like I typically do, I would probably still be in planning mode. And as James Clear puts it, “being in motion” trumps “taking action” every-time.

  • Be Unapologetic: Do not deviate from who you are! In fact, double down! This can be defined in various ways, but for me its simply following your core beliefs, staying on your path, and not running someone else’s race.

  • Betting Season: Challenging my self to think outside the box and not compartmentalize my efforts. The same critical skills and level of ownership I use for the 9-5 gig should be the same I apply to my personal endeavors.

Lastly and arguably the connection between all of these

  • Aligning Purpose & Vision (Bonus): Completely aligning your visions, core values, motivation with the purpose God has planned for you. This is an on going journey but I believe it is achieved through being uncomfortable, completely letting go, and intentionally leaning on Him for direction.
