This initial episode is the first of a linear series of episodes about Music Theory and the language of music. It starts at the very beginning of understanding music theory for ANYONE and EVERYONE. We define music theory and why we want to understand it, as well as going through some initial concepts of music theory to get started that include: SOUND, MELODY, HARMONY, GREGORIAN CHANT, PITCHES/NOTES, CONSONANCE AND DISSONANCE.  Many audio examples are included as well.
