25th Amendment

The 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution deals with presidential succession, disability, and inability. It was ratified in 1967. Section 4 of the Amendment allows the Vice President and a majority of the principal officers of the executive departments, or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, to declare the President unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. If the President disagrees with this declaration, Congress can then decide whether the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. If Congress decides that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President becomes Acting President.
