This week on Chess Journeys, I spoke with Alexander. We had a great chat about his massive rating improvement, 800 points in 8 months. Alexander talked about his organic approach to learning. He has taken in a lot of content on Youtube, played online chess, and played many training games. Alexander attributes some of his success to his “chess team” that crafts opening traps and plans to get an advantage. In shocking news, he doesn’t spend much time on tactics. We also talked about topics such as going to college at 15, mastering the piano, getting mistaken for a kid, and his tournament experiences.
