Ep. 56: Interview with Dan McCarney - Gallery and Hurley Unfiltered: Iowa Football Rewind
Description
Brion and Nick interview former Iowa defensive lineman (1972-74), former Iowa assistant coach (1977-1989) and former Iowa State head coach Dan McCarney (1995-2006).
We learn about his journey growing up in Iowa City, playing for the Hawkeyes during the difficult losing seasons in the 1970s, joining the Iowa staff before and after Hayden arrived and helping turnaround the program in the 1980's. He departed to Wisconsin with Barry Alvarez in 1990 to repeat the accomplishment, and took over at Iowa State in 1995. He defeated Hayden in 1998, breaking a long losing streak against Iowa, and took Iowa State to its first ever bowl victory in 2000. He also won a National Championship with Florida in 2008.
