Description

Welcome back to another Trve. Cvlt. Pop! it's the polyjamorous... nah, it's not... it's a music podcast.

On this week's show, Sam is here and we look at the slew of music biopics that have been released over the last couple of decades, and show no sign of stopping, and ask; why are they so bad?

From a shy Freddie Mercury with awful false teeth to a mockney Amy Winehouse getting blamed for her drug addiction, music biopics almost universally miss the entire purpose of what made their intended subject matter so special, and instead rely on cliches, formulaic structures, surface level performances and watered down versions of events.

Here, we look at the problems with the genre, what can be done to improve them, what we fear is coming next and a couple of our own pitches that Hollywood might just want to consider picking up.

There's also some new music recommendations and a lost banger from the past by Oxidde and Neutrino to chat about.
