Ep08 - Cross Cultural Communication - 1 (Communication Skills Lessons by Parveen Sharma - Learning Radio Podcast)
Description
Module III: Cross-Cultural Communication -Cross-Cultural Communication (Meaning, Significance, Definition, Elements and Characteristics)
What is CULTURE? > It is what we do, how we think, we dress and we cook. It can also be something we design, paint or construct. Some can say that culture is something made by our beliefs, religion and language.
So, we understand that Culture is actually all that we know, as mentioned in the above lines about 'What is Culture?'.
This module helps us to learn Cross-Cultural Communication Skills.
When a Head of the Country, a CEO or even a smart tourist goes to another country, the first thing that is done is to know about the culture of that country. The old saying 'When In Rome, Do as the Romans do!' So, this is possible when we know the culture. Imagine, to say " I am Parveen" I point to my nose to point towards me; Americans will point towards their chest to say the same. That is a small observation listed in the book mentioned in the episode, but it is of course something from the culture.
