While doing research for a local public radio show, I found out about a notorious colonial woman named Anne Toft who lived on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Anne's story fascinated me. I decided to write a novel about this intrepid survivor who rose from obscurity to wealth and power. Learn about some of the history which inspired my novel The Persistent Buccaneer.
