Episode #10 Kendra Seymour and Brandon Chappo and How Their Mold Stories are Helping Them Change Laws
Description
Kendra is an advocate for improving your health by improving your indoor air quality. Almost a decade ago, Kendra discovered hidden mold and water damage in her home were impacting her family’s health. After years of research into mold and indoor toxins, and a lot of hard lessons-learned, she became dedicated to helping others by building awareness in online communities and collaborating with fellow advocates to educate the public around the importance of indoor air quality.
Brandon is a passionate indoor air quality advocate, specializing in public policy and legislative reform for mold at the state level of government. In the late summer of 2019, he suffered from the serious health effects from mold exposure after living in a water-damaged rental in Cleveland Ohio, which he’s still actively treating for today. His tireless advocacy efforts have helped in the creation of two bills in the Ohio House of Representatives (H.B. 251, The Ohio Indoor Safe Air Act) and both Florida House of Representatives and Florida Senate (H.B. 933, The Toxic Mold Protections Act (awaiting the Senate bill version number)). He’s currently enrolled in a Master’s program in the University of Florida’s Environmental & Global Health department.
