Matt started his career in New Zealand before returning to Blighty to play for Cheltenham, Livingston, Stourbridge and Spennymoor before joining National League new boys Altrincham.

If the surname sounds familiar well Matt comes from a family of footballers. His grandad is ex Wales manager Bobby Gould and his dad is ex Celtic, Preston North End and Scotland goalkeeper Johnathon Gould.
