Description

Mrs. Bennet would like to ensure that Lizzy's special day is the MOST special. And what better way to do that than by having Darcy and Lizzy marry by special license. According to the book, the two marriages (Jane+Bingley and Lizzie+Darcy) take place on the same day. Darcy, being the nephew of an earl, *might* have been able to get a special license, but Bingley absolutely would not. So I like to think that Elizabeth scotched the idea of the special license by insisting on a double wedding with her dearest sister.
