Description
We begin our science fantasy month with a classic movie about a trek through the stars that leads to liberating humans on a distant planet (it’s a long story), with the added spice of the unexamined elements of American exceptionalism and the military science complex. It turns out this beloved fantasy adventure movie from our youths has problematic elements in it, who’d have thought? I guess we should have known though because this seems to keep happening to us, but we are happy to deconstruct this film as high art! Even if it may not necessarily deserve it.
