Episode 233
Update: 2023-02-0629
Description
Philosopher John Locke believed that we have no innate ideas; our minds are blank slates upon which experience writes. Modern geneticists argue that we are nothing but the stage on which a play written by our genes is performed. The nature versus nurture debate is one of the oldest philosophical issues within psychology, and countless experiments tested which theory is correct. However, none have ever come close to explaining what happened to 65-year-old Nancy Noone and her twin children.

This is such a sad story. mental illness is so difficult to treat sometimes. And when you have an adult who is mentally ill it's hard to force treatment on them. actually you can't unless they do something that allows the legal process to force it. just such a tragic ending and I'm afraid that could have never been stopped unless Michael had been institutionalized all of his life. And that's not appropriate either. so what do we do?

Michael's flat affect and monotone is identical to that of Zacharay Davis, the teen who killed his mom with a sledgehammer. Same lack of feeling, same unfathomable explanation. What IS this?
