Episode 36-Battling Trans Myths with Ley David Elliette Cray, PhD
Description
Happy Pride, my lovelies! It has come to my attention that I have not had enough of my LGBTQIA+ family on here. Changing that this month and it will continue in the months to come. For once, I actually do not have to put the 18+ warning on an episode! This is actually a shout out for trans youth and trans rights. I have had the pleasure of attending talks by Ley David Elliette Cray, PhD (she/they) through my training with the Sexual Health Alliance (SHA). Ley takes the time to lovingly answer questions that have baffled me working with people but also, from just interacting with people, and society at large. Ley opens up about the impact of not only family of origin interactions, how issues that trans people face are important whether cisgender people understand it or not, that trans people or anyone who is not a straight cisgender person doesn't owe anyone a coming out, and much more. I remain amazed by her expertise, willingness to answer any question I could throw at her, and above all, her kindness.
