Description

In this episode, Chrystal and Summer do a deep dive into Hong Kong's history in regards to the LGBTQ+ community and representation. They talk about the history of LGBTQ+ laws and reflect on why Hong Kong is so conservative when it comes to homosexuality culture. Follow along as Chrystal reflects on her time attending Catholic school, and how they were both not exposed to any sort of LGBTQ+ representation. They also analyse how the Hong Kong media has misrepresented, stereotyped, and dehumanised the experience of LGBTQ+ individuals through watching clips from previous HK TV shows. Finally, they end with some positive representation when it comes to LGBTQ+ films, including Happy Together (1997), and Suk Suk (2019).
