This episode's guest is Christine Hunter, PhD. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research at the NIH. Dr. Hunter has her PhD in clinical psychology, and before working at the NIH, she served in active duty in the Air Force for 10 years. In this episode, she tells us about her unique career path and shares her perspective on the future of medical care, especially as it pertains to mental health. We talk about the approach to how we view and treat mental health in the United States today, the challenge of interdisciplinary research, and even the need for a restructuring of STEM education and careers to be more inclusive to a wider variety of people.
