About Callie:
She began running in 2013 as a way to lose weight after realizing she could barely walk a mile to meet a friend for brunch in Chicago. It was a slow-go getting started—she picked up a stress fracture, had to learn the real value of food and how to eat better vs eating out every meal. She struggled simply running around the block—but she kept at it and eventually, one day, ran 13.1 miles around her neighborhood and decided she wanted to try a marathon. The 2016 BOA Chicago Marathon was her first race (ever) and she finished! It was around this time too that she reached a total of 200 pounds lost.

After that, she tackled her first 50 miler. Then, her first 100 miler and in 2022 her first 200+ mile finish at the Moab 240.

It wasn't until she moved to Arizona that she truly started trail running, and now she's just two weeks away from the Western States Endurance Run, oldest 100-mile trail ultra in the country, which includes 17k of vert and 23k of descent. Needless to say, there's been a lot of learning this training cycle — not just with performance on trail but also how to fuel properly for a hot, hot, hot mountainous race.  It'll be a challenge, but like Callie likes to say, "We're runners and easy just ain't our thing."
