Shane Vincent! May 24th, 2007, former BMX Olympic superstar, Shane
Vincent’s Cavalry troop was headed back from a seemingly routine mission in Iraq when his Humvee tripped a wire which was connected to a roadside improvised explosive device. The IED was built to eliminate a tank but flipped his Humvee over 100 feet into the air, flipping countless times before finally crashing into the ground. As the twisted heap of metal smoldered, Shane was thought dead with a broken neck, back, jaw, and pelvis. Placed into a medically-induced coma, Shane had no memory of the explosion. He woke several weeks later stuttering, confused, and disoriented.

 This 4th of July edition finds us looking at the resilience of a
true American hero as we discuss the fight and battle after “the battle”.
Inspiring does NOT start to describe this conversation and the courage of Shane and his family. Shane’s fight back embodies The Warrior Ethos: “I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit!”
