Today Charline sits with Neferteri Plessy, Founder of Single Moms Planet. Neferteri shares her single mother journey and the creation of her organization @singlemomsplanet. As a mother with two young sons from her marriage, she felt firsthand the unique challenges that face single mothers. After her divorce, she struggled like many new single moms to find balance, self-fulfillment, and financial security. First and foremost among her concerns was her children and how to ensure a happy stable life for them. Neferteri began to research the effects of divorce and single motherhood, and through her studies, she learned that the most disadvantaged group in the U.S. are single mother families which according to the U.S. Census 30% live under the poverty line. That’s when she founded Single Moms Planet with her co-founder Cole Patterson to end the poverty cycle in single parent households.
