In this episode of The Feminist Bar Podcast, we turn our attention to the deeply personal and often hidden struggles of family life and intimate relationships for queer Zimbabwean women and girls. Through stories shared in the latest story circle, our guests look candidly at how they navigate safety within their homes and relationships, spaces that should be safe but often aren’t. Our guests open up about facing conversion methods from their families, such as being subjected to religious "cures" and exorcisms. the reality of fleeing home due to family rejection, only to encounter domestic violence in relationships where power dynamics and dependence can lead to toxic cycles, The lack of attention given to domestic violence within lesbian relationships, and how the support systems that exist often overlook or dismiss their experiences.
