"Experiential learning" may sound like a buzzwordy academic trend, but for Louisiana Tech's Special Collections, Manuscripts, and Archives (SCMA) it has meant a hugely successful internship program.
Join us in this episode of Listen with LOUIS where we speak with the Louisiana Tech archivist, Michelle Riggs Waller, and history professor, Dr. Elaine Thompson, who collaborated to create a fruitful internship for Jenny Little, a public history student. Through this collaboration, Jenny had the opportunity to curate an exhibit called "Far Out Fashion: Exploring the 70s Style Revolution" for the SCMA, an exhibit that Michelle is now using to talk about the internship program and show off the archives at the SCMA. She even wrote a recent LOUIS Lagniappe article about the exhibit.
Michelle Riggs Waller is the Special Collections Librarian and University Archivist at Louisiana Tech. Dr. Elaine Thompson is the Associate Professor and McGinty Professor of History at Louisiana Tech. Jenny Little is a public history major and SCMA intern at Louisiana Tech.
