Anna Peterson lives in Decorah, IA with her two kids, two cats, and one husband. She is a professor of history at Luther College and has published numerous academic books and articles on maternity policy, focusing on the country of Norway in the 19th and 20th centuries. She is a passionate advocate of empowered birth. Since 2018 she has served the Driftless region as a birth doula, childbirth educator, breastfeeding consultant, and midwife’s assistant. This past year she began training to be a Certified Professional Midwife, attending birthing families mostly at home. In all of her birth-related roles she has also offered placenta services, including placenta encapsulation.
