Description

How should companies act in order not to be complicit in human rights violations? This question is particularly sensitive when companies operate in countries where active hostilities are taking place. There, the field of Business and Human Rights meets International Criminal Law. In this episode, Dr Kateryna Buriakovska of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Charkiw (Ukraine) and Visiting Researcher at FAU gives an insight into her research particularly on the question: When should a company leave a conflict-affected area? I.e. when is responsible disengagement the right choice for a company in order to exercise its human rights due diligence? A case in point is the disengagement of Telenor group from Myanmar.
