Although not an architect, Heatherwick has become known for his large scale building projects such as the Vessel in New York, Coal Drops Yard in London and the upcoming Google Campus in Mountain View, California. Dezeen's founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs met with Heatherwick at his London studio to talk about his childhood fascination with engineering, his distaste for architectural discourse and how he completed his first building while still a student.
