In this episode of "Race to the Top," I had the pleasure of speaking with Frank Starling, a dynamic leader in the realm of creativity and diversity. We kicked off our conversation by exploring the Cannes Lions Festival, where Frank plays a key role in celebrating marketing and brand communications while emphasising the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in fostering innovation.

Frank shared his personal journey growing up in Hackney, East London, and the challenges he faced navigating different socioeconomic environments. He discussed pivotal moments that shaped his identity and aspirations, particularly his experiences in education and early career.

A significant turning point for Frank was his volunteer work with Hackney Council, aimed at addressing unemployment among young Black men. This ignited his passion for DE&I, leading him to create opportunities for underrepresented communities. Our discussion also touched on the impact of microaggressions and the importance of setting boundaries in the workplace, offering valuable insights for fostering inclusivity.
