Feeding Hungry Children & Paying Off School Lunch Debt with Mike Cruz Director of Communications and Marketing for Casa Grande Elementary Schools
Description
Mike Cruz was very generous with his time and he gave me an education. I learned about food insecurity. I learned about a very high percentage the children not being raised by their parents have the highest probability for suffering food insecurity. I learned that some children don't get regular Lee said on the weekends.
Mike taught me examples about how lack of food leads to bad behavior which makes the job educating children extremely difficult. Mike told me about a program at one of his schools.
I must admit I went into this meeting with Mike Cruz with a very strong misconception. I had read a USA Today article and some other articles that talked about past due school lunches and how children were stigmatized by getting peanut butter and jelly sandwiches instead of the regularly scheduled lunch menu. I thought that was a big problem. After talking to Mike Cruz I learned the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a blessing to Hungry kids not a negative stigma.
Before I talked to Mike I wanted to raise money to pay off the pass do school lunches and after talking to Mike I want to raise money for the backpack program discussed below
The children approved for this program receive a knapsack filled with food that they bring home on Friday evening so they're not hungry on Saturday and Sunday. I'd like to encourage you to make a donation Tu Casa Grande elementary school district or your local school dress District. We can also help by making a tax deductible gift $200 for single people $400 for married couples and you'll receive a credit back for that money on your taxes. You can specify how that money gets spent for example if you want that money to get spent for extracurricular activities or Athletics or nutritional needs. I want to thank my Cruz for taking time to educate me and I look forward to working with him and raising money for nutritional programs for Casa Grande elementary school district in 2020
