Description

Dr. Carly Snyder, M.D. joins The Womb Happy Hour. Motherhood is considered such a developmental achievement by most cultures and failure to produce a child and related issues can be an emotionally traumatizing experience for women. Dr. Snyder, who suffered from a miscarriage while pregnant with twins, provides a unique understanding of the emotional and physical damage that can occur with female reproductive dysfunction. Approximately 10 to 15% of women suffer from postpartum mood disorders (PPMDs), including postpartum depression (PPD), postpartum anxiety/OCD and postpartum psychosis. More women will suffer from postpartum depression and related illnesses this year than the combined number of new cases for men and women of tuberculosis, leukemia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and epilepsy. These challenges deserve much more attention. Dr. Snyder is passionate about bringing needed awareness to these challenges to support women, their partners and babies.
