Friday 25 Oct - 23 Tishrei (Simchat Torah)
Description
SIMCHAT TORAH* (REJOICING OF THE TORAH)
Today in History: King Solomon sent the people of Israel home after they celebrated the dedication of the Holy Temple for 14 days (see 2 Chronicles 7:10 ). Simchat Torah (Rejoicing of the Torah) is the last day after the Feast of Tabernacles (see Leviticus 23:36 ). We celebrate having read the whole Torah and we start “in the beginning” again in Genesis 1. * In Israel, this holiday is celebrated the day before.
This week's portion is VeZot HaBracha (This is the blessing). Think about: What Scripture spoke to you most today and why? Did you learn something about God, or something you need to do in your life?
