By 1982, the chain’s success led to a $15 million acquisition by Morrison Inc., allowing rapid national expansion. Beall rose to lead the parent company before Ruby Tuesday was spun off as an independent public entity in 1996, refocusing exclusively on its core brand. At its peak in 2007, the chain operated 945 locations, largely anchored in shopping malls.
