Frontiers in One Health - Biodiversity Loss and the Rise of Emerging Infectious Diseases
Update: 2012-03-26
Description
Dr. William Perry (UCSD Neuropsychiatry/Behavioral Med.) explores the neuropsychological perspective. He presents research linking both aging to cognitive changes, and cognition to occupational performance in physicians. He then postulates that many older physicians draw from “crystalized knowledge” and non-analytic cognitive processes. Dr. Perry presents the role of neuropsychology in assessing the aging physician and contrasts a neuropsychodiagnostic assessment with a PACE Fitness for Duty evaluation. He also introduces the idea that doctors can accommodate potentially cognitive decline and mitigate against effects of aging.
