City enforcement teams have been combing through the CBD, closing unsafe establishments, arresting suspects, and enforcing by-laws that have long gone ignored. The raids have also revealed undocumented workers, drug dens, and troubling signs of collusion between certain city officials and criminal operators. As frustration grows among residents demanding safer streets and a revitalised capital, Mayor Moyo says this is only the first phase of a broader effort to reclaim the city.
