Stan Getz (1927-1991) è uno dei più famosi tenorsassofonisti bianchi della storia del jazz, soprannominato “The Sound” per il suo suono dolce e smooth. La sua celebrità si deve soprattutto alle collaborazioni con Charlie Byrd, Antônio Jobim e João Gilberto agli inizi degli anni ’60, che fecero entrare stabilmente la bossa nova nel repertorio del jazz nordamericano.
