In the Hebrew Bible, ha-satan (the adversary or "the satan") is a figure who is initially depicted as a heavenly prosecutor and subordinate to Yahweh (God). Ha-satan prosecutes Judah in the heavenly court and tests the loyalty of Yahweh's followers, but can also sometimes be a source of assistance. But are we taught this in Orthodox religion?
