Going Solo IV: Howard
Description
On a dark summer night on the set of American Graffiti, Ron Howard asked George Lucas what film he wanted to do next. Lucas was shy with details, but he said it was sort of a Buck Rogers film with Stanley Kubrick special effects, but really, really fast.
Both Howard and Lucas would go onto wildly successful directorial careers, but while George Lucas was stuck in a galaxy far far away, Howard became a journeyman, directing all styles, genres and budgets. When Solo: A Star Wars Story needed a steady pair of hands to take over and get the now director-less film onto screens in just 11 months, Howard was one of the few directors with the experience, technical skill and clout to pull it off.
Howard’s version of Solo was always going to be a compromise. But by picture lock, very little of anyone’s vision remained. Join us for the breakneck conclusion of Going Solo.
