His journey eventually led him to Ocean Beach in San Francisco, a place he stumbled upon by chance but instantly felt at home. Not long after, he discovered the now-famous big wave break Mavericks, and it became his lifelong obsession. With decades of experience surfing one of the heaviest waves on the planet, Grant shares what he’s learned out there—about fear, preparation, and the deep connection between surfers and the sea.
