Grenfell Tower Lights: A Memorial in the Night
Update: 2025-12-13
Description
Grenfell Tower to be illuminated at night, serving as a poignant reminder of the tragic fire, as its slow deconstruction continues. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government announced that beams of light will project upwards from each corner of the tower during evening hours. The lighting system is scheduled for testing this Saturday, December thirteenth, and will begin shining the night after. On significant dates, such as June fourteenth and December fourteenth, the beams will turn green. The floor-by-floor removal is being handled by Deconstruct UK, with officials pledging that the demolition will be carried out with great care and sensitivity. A design team called Freehaus has been selected to create a permanent memorial for the victims, expected to be unveiled in mid-two thousand twenty-seven.
