Description

US government debt is high, and it's getting higher. The US debt-to-GDP ratio is more than 100 per cent of GDP. The Congressional Budget Office thinks the deficit is headed to 6 per cent of GDP, and a lot of that is just the debt interest. Those numbers sound pretty scary, and neither political party seems ready to do anything about it. Today on the show, we worry about it with Jason Furman, the former chair of the Council of Economic Advisers during the Obama administration, and current professor of economics at Harvard.

Soumaya Keynes writes a column each week for the Financial Times. You can find it here.
