Hawaiian Jazz Vocal queen, Azure McCall is my guest on episode 08, season 02 of Speaking of Jazz with Manny Kellough
Description
My special guest is Hawaiian Jazz Queen and good friend Azure McCall - classic jazz vocalist. With stylings like Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McCrae, and Ella Fitzgerald, yet her voice is unique and just sultry smooth, like crushed velvet.
Azure has a fascinating musical and acting bio - here is just a summary: Azure is an extremely versatile vocalist. Put her with a pianist or a 45 piece symphony, and she's comfortable. Azure is also a Jazz vocal coach and teacher, including teaching at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, California. Her music career has included working as a vocalist on cruise ships, touring with Ray Brown, Freddy Hubbard, Frank Morgan, Dizzy Gillespie.
Azure McCall is an actor, having appeared in Lost, Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-0.
