Professor Roszalina Ramli, Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon by training, who developed skills in biomechanics and epidemiology in order to solve what she saw as a major community problem. In this podcast, Dr Ramli tells Editor-in-Chief of Injury Prevention, Rod McClure, how she stepped from the operating theatre to research, and into public health policy.
