Helping million-inhabitant cities to mitigate and adapt to climate change - Jacqueline Chang, GCoM
Description
Jacqueline started a legal career 19 years ago. Fed up with the win-lose endings of most of the cases she was appointed to, she decided to embrace a change and went back to school (at IESEG) to get a master's in international business.
One thing leading to another, and leaving room for opportunism and spontaneity, she starts working on the development of EU funded projects in Asian countries.
And that drove her to start focusing on climate change challenges at GCoM (Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy) as a country coordinator. "This is the best decision of my life”. She then had the opportunity to represent GCoM Asia at COP28 in Dubai in 2023 and be part of – stressful – negotiations there.
This episode is a true example of what being a changemaker is: “If you have the ability to make a sustainable choice, make it an obligation to do it for the people who can’t”.
