So today’s episode covers something I always dreamed of doing and being a part of. The year of 2016 I was asked by my track and field coach a serious question that I never thought about let alone knew anything about. So the year of 2016, my dream of being able to participate in track and field provincials came true, as we all know as soon as we get word we are going to provincials we get hyped about the idea of representing our school in front of a big crowd cheering you on while your waiting in the sprinters blocks after setting them up on your own for yourself to start up the race. You wait patiently for the gun to so you can explode out of the blocks like flash the super hero. But my 2016-2017 year wasn’t like that and neither was my 2017-2018 year of provincials. I practiced daily running the same distance after school any days I could in order to train myself for the long awaited race day. I also ended up training very often for my sprints I was doing. Trying to find ways to improve my explosive legs out of those blocks faster everyday I trained. But there was one problem that prevented me from competing at my top level. In my 2016-2017 year of provincials a month before provincials I was playing a game in the gym at school with younger kids called colour tag we all know how that goes. The people that are it are trying to tag whoever they call a colour for. When they call a colour the people run from one side to the other and try not to get tagged. If they get tagged the end up being the tagger doing the tagging. The number of kids there were playing colour tag was a big number I think it was around 30 or more kids. But anyway the number of people being tagged started increasing by a lot and I ended up weaving my way around them until there were only 3 or 4 of people that weren’t it. And by that time I was running out of energy after being too much of a try hard wanting to win that I was. My only problem is I was way too competitive and that when the worst injuries ended up occurring. I ran back and forth multiple times without getting tagged. But with my energy running out I had a feeling something bad was going to happen but I just ignored that feeling and I kept running and running. Then I started to get so tired to the point I wanted to give up but I refused because being the stubborn 16 year old I was seemed to make me want to try and push myself as hard as I possibly could. That’s when the injuries ended up occurring. I was running back and forth and that was when tragedy struck. I thought this could be possible I just have to think smarter not harder. But that was when I made the worst decision of my high school year. I scanned the room to try and find anyway to get myself through and successfully win at colour tag. So I ended up finding a opening and took my last chance to win at the game they didn’t think I could win. So with the only energy I had left I went from a statue to a quick burst of speed into a full sprint. I ended up tripping and getting enough air I found myself about 4 feet from the wall so I covered my face and tucked my knees in and I hit the wall so hard that on impact I managed to break my toe and Dislocated my knee in the process. And then the kids surrounded me and were jumping on me and they got a little carried away. I took about two minutes to get up and dust myself off. That’s when I realized I had a dislocated right knee and a broken big toe on my right foot. About 1 week later my cousins ended up coming to the lake to play some hockey on the outdoor rink, my cousin Brette asked me if I could bring out pucks on the outdoor rink, so I agreed and did what she asked. I planned on just bringing them out and going back inside. But my cousin Brette wanted me to stay out and play hockey, but I told her I couldn’t cause I was injured. But she insisted that I stay out on the rink to spend time with them so I agreed. Then after about 6 weeks later my toe healed up. My teacher asked me about track.
