Jeremy allows Sam his birthday winter vacation while I talk about the lives of folks, some of whom are my ancestors, in reflecting on life in Europe based on the book The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815. Travel, disease, resources like food, land/property, and the rights of the folks who are in different classes--in a time where Europe's elite went on resource expansion (aka colonialist imperialist venture capitalism).
A short contemplation of how a lot of our ancestors had a lot of work and lot a long lifespan to do it.
