Grab a cup and join us as we talk about what you need to know about wildfires with Elizabeth Pickett, Executive Director of Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization, HWMO. Did you know embers from a wildfire can ignite a home up to one mile away? And did you know 99% of wildfires in Hawaii are started by people, both by accident and arson?
Elizabeth will be sharing insights into the cause and prevention of wildfires and how her organization has helped Hawaiian communities and the Pacific region to protect precious resources. HWMO informs people across the state about current fire and drought conditions as well as provides information and education to help protect life and property from wildfires. We are grateful to all the firefighters and we'll also ask about the notion that firefighters love their coffee.
