>> This is the Paul Finebaum Show, our team podcast.
00:00:15
>> This might be college football.
00:00:17
>> Yeah, welcome back.
00:00:18
Second hour of our program is live and we're really a little down.
00:00:24
Maybe it looks important to me, I believe.
00:00:27
In the SEC, that's Ole Miss heading to Baton Rouge.
00:00:32
What about Trey Harris?
00:00:33
What role does he play in the game?
00:00:35
Does he play at all?
00:00:36
Michael Katz joining us right now.
00:00:40
Covers the team, also teaches at the University Professor.
00:00:43
Great to see you again.
00:00:44
So give us the tree top on this showdown in Tiger Stadium.
00:00:50
>> I mean, there's never a lack of storylines with Wayne.
00:00:54
But it's a really big opportunity for Ole Miss here.
00:00:57
You know, obviously the Kentucky game was a little bit of a setback.
00:01:00
I don't think a lot of people were expecting that one.
00:01:03
It's a big question last week of how they were going to bounce back from that.
00:01:06
They bounced back in a big way with pretty dominant performance over a very good South Carolina team.
00:01:12
That gave LSU a run for its money.
00:01:14
So there's just a lot of storylines.
00:01:17
You know, Lane Kiffin's won some big games at Ole Miss, but he really hasn't had that huge mark he win on the road.
00:01:24
You know, he won at Tennessee in 2021.
00:01:27
I believe that Tennessee team was honoring.
00:01:29
This would be, you know, this is going to be a very different sort of challenge.
00:01:32
You know, again, Tiger Stadium at night.
00:01:34
Brian Kelly, I believe I saw a status undefeated in night games at LSU at Tiger Stadium.
00:01:40
So it's going to be a challenge, but I feel like if there was any team equipped to do it, it's this Ole Miss team, the leadership, the fact that they have already been tested.
00:01:52
And in a weird way, I think, losing the Kentucky might have been a blessing in disguise for them because it really made them focus on what they need to be.
00:02:02
And so, yeah, a really good opportunity here for Ole Miss to make a statement and feel good heading into the by-week.
00:02:08
Michael, because of so many meltdowns last week and so many upsets, I don't think Ole Miss is win over South Carolina has really gotten much credit outside of where you live.
00:02:20
So, what specifically was different other than everything between the Kentucky game and the trip to Columbia?
00:02:29
I think the biggest thing was that Ole Miss didn't beat itself in that Kentucky game.
00:02:34
You know, penalties have been a problem for this team all year, but it's not really that big of a deal when it's non-conference games and you're winning by 40 anyway.
00:02:44
But against Kentucky, I believe they had three penalties lead to first downs at the very end of that game.
00:02:51
We had a fourth and seven deep inside of Kentucky's own territory.
00:02:54
Kentucky hit a 60-something yard pass to set up the game when he touched down.
00:02:58
There were just a lot of mental errors in that game.
00:03:02
That did not happen this past weekend.
00:03:04
And there were a lot of opportunities for it.
00:03:07
South Carolina faked upon early and Ole Miss snuffed it out.
00:03:10
Ole Miss created turnovers, that's when they're at their best and really, you know, the defensive line has been good all year.
00:03:17
But it was kind of on another level this last weekend.
00:03:20
Six sacks with guys like Jared Ivy and Walter Nolan really living on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
00:03:28
They really flipped the script in that Kentucky game.
00:03:30
They were beat up on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
00:03:33
This was a lot closer to the way I think we all expected them to play this year.
00:03:38
And if I remember correctly, Ole Miss has not had a buy week.
00:03:42
That comes next week.
00:03:44
I don't know what this really means, but you think some of the inconsistencies has come?
00:03:49
Maybe they needed a buy week a few weeks ago.
00:03:52
Yeah, I mean, I think they were kind of at the time of the year where you're a little bit tired.
00:03:57
And again, injuries are starting to happen.
00:04:00
You know, you brought up Trey Harris at the start of the segment.
00:04:03
He's the leading receiver in the country with almost 200 more yards than anybody else.
00:04:08
He's been targeted 30 more times in the next closest receiver at Ole Miss.
00:04:14
I think a buy week would have probably really helped now for him.
00:04:17
His status remains in the air.
00:04:20
But again, with Ole Miss and the way Lankiff in place injuries close to the vest, you really don't know what to expect.
00:04:26
But that injury report that we get a few times a week, it's pretty lengthy.
00:04:31
So I think that they could probably use a little bit of the break.
00:04:35
You know, they've said they're not used to not having a buy week yet.
00:04:39
So I think this is a little bit different for everybody.
00:04:43
So I think they'd be lying to say they weren't a little bit beat up.
00:04:46
But again, I think they're going to make an excuse.
00:04:48
I think everybody's tired right now in college football.
00:04:50
Michael, let's talk about Lankiff in for a minute.
00:04:54
He was pretty active early in the season.
00:04:57
And then he went predictably quiet.
00:04:59
When he loses, he's always quiet as a church mice.
00:05:02
What's happening now?
00:05:04
Is he chirping anymore?
00:05:05
Yeah, I'm not sure if you caught any of the press conference after the South Carolina game.
00:05:11
But there was a lot going on in that one.
00:05:13
He was watching the Alabama Vanderbilt game.
00:05:15
And he was talking to us, asking us how many timeouts Alabama had.
00:05:19
It looked a lot more like the Lankiff in that we're used to.
00:05:25
He's been back online.
00:05:26
He's been tweeting and retweeting things.
00:05:28
Like you said, he kind of went...
00:05:32
he went dark for a few days after that loss.
00:05:34
And I think he probably needed to, you know, with his online personality.
00:05:40
I think there were probably some people who were going to have some mean things to say.
00:05:43
But again, after a solid win, I think he felt...
00:05:47
It was time to go back on.
00:05:49
And again, that post game press conference.
00:05:51
That's the lane that I think we're used to.
00:05:54
Yeah, the teenage lane.
00:05:56
Michael Ketch, joining us here.
00:05:59
Michael, nobody knows where opening show up at the end of the season.
00:06:03
But one thing we do know, wherever it is, Lankiff's name will always be the first one mentioned.
00:06:09
It seems like we're almost at the midpoint.
00:06:12
He's done a better job maybe than two years ago of just keeping that out of the mainstream.
00:06:19
How do you see it from the cheap seats covering Lankiffin?
00:06:22
Yeah, I mean, there's a high profile job in the state of Florida that is expected to come open that a lot of people have connected some dots with.
00:06:33
But I think that with the playoff situation, the way it is and the way the schedule is, he hasn't really had time to think about those sorts of things because,
00:06:44
you know, again, in his December, if things go well, it's going to be pretty packed.
00:06:49
He's not going to really have time for those sorts of situations.
00:06:51
So I think a lot of us are talking about it and wondering about it and you know, it's seeing who's saying what.
00:06:58
But, you know, that's the nature of the beast with Lankiffin.
00:07:02
We do this every year.
00:07:03
Some years, it's more intense than others.
00:07:05
Last year was pretty quiet.
00:07:07
The year before was one of the most insane thanksgiving weeks I've probably ever had with all of the operant stuff.
00:07:12
But, you know, when you hire Lankiffin, you understand that you're going to win a lot of games and you also understand that there's going to be some other stuff that goes with it.
00:07:22
And I think when you cover it, you sort of understand that too.
00:07:26
And my final question on that, and sometimes you don't really know what you think you do.
00:07:32
But at least on surface, does it look like he's pretty happy there?
00:07:36
Yeah, I mean, again, he's, you know, his family's out there.
00:07:41
His brother just moved back.
00:07:43
His daughter's, I believe, a freshman at Ole Miss, I believe Nox.
00:07:49
His son is moving to Oxford.
00:07:53
At least that was the plan if I remember correctly.
00:07:55
You know, Lain, and he has said it, has been a guy who moves around a lot.
00:08:01
And he has joked about not staying at places very long, whether it's by choice or by the institution's choice.
00:08:08
But this really does seem to be a place where he's happy.
00:08:13
And I also think he understands, especially in this world of college football, the importance of a supportive administration and a school that is going to do everything they can to not sabotage him,
00:08:27
but have his back.
00:08:27
That is not the case at every school right now.
00:08:31
And this high profile wants to.
00:08:33
So I think he understands that he is going to have free reign to pretty much do whatever he wants to get that program up.
00:08:39
The NIL situation is about as good as you could ask for given the scale of what Ole Miss is dealing with.
00:08:45
I think he's a little bit older.
00:08:49
He's a little bit more mature now.
00:08:51
I do think that he understands that he's got it made pretty well right now.
00:08:56
He's still laying kifford.
00:09:01
Mike, okay, it's joining us, Michael.
00:09:03
It's always great to see you soon.
00:09:04
We certainly hope.
00:09:06
We have much more to do here.
00:09:09
A couple more guests will be dropping by.
00:09:11
What about the meetings in Atlanta?
00:09:14
It seems like they, excuse me, Nashville.
00:09:15
It seems like they're over.
00:09:17
And we're getting some early reporting on what happened in the meetings between the SEC and the Big Ten.
00:09:23
An update on that coming up shortly.
00:09:33
We're back and Nashville is where we head quickly here to get an update on what happened at the Big Ten SEC meetings.
00:09:49
Heather, with a picture of the two moguls sitting together, what looks like a pretty shabby conference room.
00:09:57
Sankey, offering what can only be interpreted as boilerplate.
00:10:04
Dealinger talking about Sankey talking about the model out there.
00:10:10
I don't think it's coincidence they ramp up their PR scheme around our meeting.
00:10:15
Not a lot of love between these groups.
00:10:16
So yeah, Pete talked certainly on everyone's mind.
00:10:21
More the same.
00:10:28
So my advice to all trying to read too much into their stalsty.
00:10:30
These aren't the comments that are going to tell you what really happened.
00:10:34
That will come later when the eager beaver reporters get the people in the room behind closed doors or in a dark room so nobody can see them talking.
00:10:46
Those are all the comments that simply were predictable and prosaic.
00:10:51
Brandon is up next.
00:10:53
Paul, what's going on with my pressure washing brother?
00:10:56
Brandon, what's up?
00:10:57
I know I'm calling a lot earlier than usual, Paul.
00:11:02
I don't really have an intense call today.
00:11:04
Paul, I wouldn't always tell you, I always appreciate you giving me the platform you do, even with my pressure washing business.
00:11:11
I haven't called in in a few days, but I've been stressing, Paul.
00:11:14
Now, I know there's a sports call show, and I'm not wanting to put my personal business out there, brother, Paul, but this time last year and the five years I've been in business, my pressure washing was booming.
00:11:25
Right now is the slowest I've been since I've started.
00:11:30
I'm sure inflation is playing a big part and people waiting on the election results.
00:11:34
I don't really know, but I've always worked my ass out, Paul.
00:11:38
And I was hoping I could get this message out there.
00:11:40
And maybe I could start getting some phone calls from my pressure washing business, Paul.
00:11:44
I mean, let me allow me to ask a few questions, because we've had pressure washing done.
00:11:53
I don't really, it's usually something that you do when you notice that you need it.
00:12:00
So tell the audience, first of all, is there a time of the year where pressure washing is more prevalent than others?
00:12:07
Well, spring in the summer, and they want to get extremely hot, Paul.
00:12:12
It kind of drifts off.
00:12:13
And then in the fall, I stay just as busy as I do in the spring.
00:12:17
But this year, it is just totally dropped off.
00:12:20
Can you, is there any correlation, do you think, with the way the tide is playing?
00:12:24
Paul, we can't get on that one.
00:12:27
I mean, everybody may be depressed, but let me do this.
00:12:34
I mean, you're you're basing Alabama.
00:12:35
So give us, if I'm calling you, Brandon, I'm saying, hey, I just noticed my house is looking pretty bad.
00:12:44
Can you give me an estimate?
00:12:47
Again, I give you a size of the house.
00:12:49
What's the range here to retain your services?
00:12:53
Well, I'm going to tell you what, Paul.
00:12:56
I travel throughout the state of Alabama from South, North East West.
00:13:00
You give me a call.
00:13:01
You shoot me a text message on Facebook, Twitter, whatever you get.
00:13:05
I can come out and look, you know, a lot of people, you know, don't want you coming out to their house.
00:13:11
I can give you an estimate, Paul, on Google words through the phone, through takes, whatever, whatever is convenient for the customer, Paul.
00:13:18
I do it all.
00:13:19
And and what's it, what's the importance of getting here we are?
00:13:23
I feel like we're Saturday morning on the swap shop.
00:13:26
What's the importance of getting your home pressure washed?
00:13:30
Life long, if you do your roof, Paul, it extends the life of your shingles on your roof, whether it's your metal, shingle, whatever you got, the vinyl side and on the side of your house.
00:13:41
And then like I said, the holidays are coming up, Paul, you want your family to come down and you want to say, wow, you know, who pressure washed your house and they tell you to next day been a pressure washing, Paul, and hey, it may go a long way,
00:13:51
but it's so finally, Brandon, the most important question I will ask you because I'm sure there are many, many people in Alabama who may want to spend a couple of bucks on making their house look good for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
00:14:04
So how do people find Brandon the Nick Saban of pressure washers?
00:14:10
Paul, I'm going to put everything up there.
00:14:13
Go ahead.
00:14:14
Get on my face, go on my Facebook, man, Brandon, Bush, first and last name, last name, the USH, go to my Twitter.
00:14:22
And Paul, you may have me lost on my Twitter now.
00:14:25
I don't pay attention to, uh, Brandon, Bush, five, two, seven, six.
00:14:30
But my name on Twitter, Paul is the Nick Saban of pressure washing.
00:14:34
It's simple to find or call me.
00:14:35
You can have my number two, five, one, three, six, nine, two, five, four, nine.
00:14:40
Whatever they need, Paul, I don't like handouts.
00:14:43
I like the work.
00:14:44
And I feel like this was, um, I figured you'd give me that platform to put this out there and I certainly appreciate that, Paul.
00:14:50
Well, I literally just looked up the Nick Saban of pressure washers and the Brandon's pro wash.
00:14:56
Um, and, uh, from there, I guess you get all the information that you need to, uh, to do pressure washing, right?
00:15:03
Exactly.
00:15:04
And like I told him, Paul, I can make it simple for you.
00:15:07
Google words, I can come out, whatever you want, whatever you want to do.
00:15:11
Call me, text me, message me, whatever you got to do, mail me a letter, do something.
00:15:14
I don't care.
00:15:15
Well, Brandon, I'll tell you what, uh, I, I, and what, what's a, how long is it, I mean, depending on the size of your house, of course, but if I had you come out today,
00:15:25
how long would it take for you to pressure wash it?
00:15:28
One day, one day, one day, one day, I have it done.
00:15:33
You got a small house.
00:15:34
Okay, we, we, uh, Brandon, I get you, I know you probably, I don't know where you are.
00:15:39
We just put, uh, your, your handle up on our screen, uh, add Brandon bush, five, two, seven, six, the next, I mean, I don't know how you could possibly miss.
00:15:48
And you know what?
00:15:49
I don't know why Nick Saban doesn't call you.
00:15:51
I wish you would, Paul.
00:15:53
I wish you would.
00:15:54
I'll tell you what I told Ms.
00:15:55
Terry about it.
00:15:56
I wouldn't met Ms.
00:15:57
Terry and you know me.
00:15:58
I had to have business cards on me and I handed on to Ms.
00:16:00
Terry.
00:16:01
And, and obviously if you're watching TV right now, you see a picture of us.
00:16:05
So I have met, uh, Brandon and he's a first rate guy.
00:16:10
Uh, I'll, I'll, I'll go ahead and, you know, put the good house keeping stamp on branding all the best.
00:16:16
I hope, I hope we helped you.
00:16:17
Hey, thank you, Paul.
00:16:20
Again, I appreciate everything you guys do.
00:16:22
I know it's a sports show, but I just wanted to go out on the limb and do this.
00:16:25
Again, thank you, Danny.
00:16:26
Everybody in this studio.
00:16:27
Appreciate you, Paul.
00:16:29
You got it.
00:16:29
Broke.
00:16:30
Crest is up next.
00:16:33
Man, Paul, I'm in such a good mood today.
00:16:37
I'm going to help Brandon with his pressure washing business.
00:16:40
First thing you need to do is change that damn name.
00:16:43
Nick Saban, the pressure washing, he's retired.
00:16:46
Everybody, thank you out of business, Brandon.
00:16:48
You need to change something more catchy.
00:16:50
Like the double 20 to pressure washing.
00:16:52
You'll have a lot to do.
00:16:53
Could that stock all the way up, Paul?
00:16:55
And another thing, Brandon, Clint Landon, Roll Ty Willie, Tissing Your Order.
00:17:00
Everybody don't want the house.
00:17:02
It's not like keep me awake, Brandon.
00:17:04
Change that.
00:17:05
And another thing, Paul, want your hire.
00:17:07
What's your hire, Brandon to start pressure washing everybody's phone every time you get on here talking all that foolishness and perverted talk, he do us.
00:17:16
And he can do another thing when Darryl get on here screaming and yelling, Jeff, all that bull crap they'd be talking.
00:17:22
He can press wash feathers people from.
00:17:24
Putting the work, Paul.
00:17:25
Have a nice day.
00:17:25
Thank you very much.
00:17:27
Let's talk to Brad.
00:17:28
Another Braxton.
00:17:30
This is not a pressure washer.
00:17:31
This is a young man.
00:17:32
There's a tennis see fan.
00:17:34
What's up, Braxton?
00:17:35
What's up, Paul?
00:17:37
Hey, how are you?
00:17:38
I'm okay.
00:17:41
I mean, still crying from the loss, but I mean, I can be doing worse.
00:17:46
Well, you can always be doing worse.
00:17:48
Yeah.
00:17:50
Well, you know, Paul, I'm counting down the days till next Friday or Saturday, you know, every single day I wake up.
00:17:58
I'm like, man, I'm getting so close.
00:18:01
Well, it's not official yet.
00:18:02
We don't know.
00:18:03
But I did shoot you an email yesterday.
00:18:05
But now let's get to football.
00:18:08
Okay.
00:18:09
Paul, Ole Miss versus LSU.
00:18:12
And you already know how I feel about Lane Kiffin.
00:18:15
But then you got Brian Kelly on the other side.
00:18:19
Two situations where they're coaches who I believe are overhyped and mid.
00:18:25
I mean, look at Lane Kiffin.
00:18:27
Like I said earlier, the year he's not a championship winning coach.
00:18:32
Also, Paul, for tennis see fans, this week they're looking over this game going to Alabama.
00:18:39
I'm doing the same thing.
00:18:40
But every single time you overlook a team like we did South Carolina two years ago, but there's a scandal on that.
00:18:47
And then this year with Arkansas, you can't underestimate the SEC.
00:18:52
Any team.
00:18:52
And Florida's won 17 out of the last 19 games.
00:18:57
So Paul, be ready for this on Saturday.
00:19:00
But we want to hear your thoughts and I'll respond.
00:19:03
Hey, thanks, Brexon.
00:19:04
And I do hope to see you very soon.
00:19:06
But I have a feeling I will.
00:19:08
Lucas is in Florida.
00:19:09
Hey, Lucas.
00:19:10
Lucas, you there?
00:19:14
Okay.
00:19:17
We got Lucas.
00:19:19
Good deal.
00:19:20
Go right ahead.
00:19:20
Okay.
00:19:21
Do you think that Florida state might turn around now that they're using Brocklin?
00:19:25
I don't have any reason to believe it's going to be any better.
00:19:31
I mean, what have you seen?
00:19:32
I know the Clemson.
00:19:35
Well, I'm just hoping that they can't turn around because people are just playing stand and they can't go to last year.
00:19:42
I'm just hoping that they can do good this year.
00:19:45
Yeah.
00:19:45
I don't I don't say much hope.
00:19:48
Really.
00:19:49
I mean, Miami, that's a that's a tough game.
00:19:52
Notre Dame.
00:19:53
I don't see a I mean, there's some easier games on the schedule, but the idea that Florida state is one in five.
00:20:00
They started the season in the top 10 is almost incomprehensible.
00:20:05
Lucas, thank you for the call.
00:20:06
Busy first 90 minutes.
00:20:08
We will take a short break.
00:20:10
We have a few more guests.
00:20:11
Plenty of time for your phone calls as well.
00:20:16
Final show of gas.
00:20:20
And Andrew, we appreciate you being on and I put out this and we always enjoy talking to the young men and women who compete.
00:20:44
Vance is up next.
00:20:50
What do you got, Vance?
00:20:51
Hey, buddy.
00:20:52
Is this what I could possibly call this come back weekend for the SEC?
00:21:00
That's a good one.
00:21:01
If I was Alabama, I'd be horrified of South Carolina.
00:21:10
I believe that Tennessee will bounce back.
00:21:14
What do you think about that?
00:21:17
I've completely agree with that.
00:21:19
I'm I'm happy that Florida won a few football games, but that's all I'm going to say about that.
00:21:26
Old man, I feel pretty good about them.
00:21:30
I don't know who I can't remember who I was playing, but I know one thing.
00:21:39
I've gotten over my mad at Irving Milk Coast or Coach DeVore, but we're going to see about that game because think about that.
00:21:52
That's a dangerous game, Paul.
00:21:53
I mean, I agree with you only because if you look at the best of what we've seen from South Carolina, it's been very good.
00:22:04
The worst of it's pretty pretty miserable.
00:22:06
Yeah, and who's LSU playing?
00:22:11
Oh, miss.
00:22:12
Oh, boy, that's a, oh, I forgot.
00:22:15
That is a good one.
00:22:17
Now, I will say this so far this season, the most dominating team I've seen, and I'm talking about the South Asian Conference, is believe it or not in one game performance has got to be Texas A&M.
00:22:34
That team looked good, didn't they?
00:22:38
Well, they they look great against Missouri, but that's another, every time you say something like that, I think you started asking the question, who exactly did they be?
00:22:48
Missouri has not looked good against anyone.
00:22:50
You're right.
00:22:51
And by the way, who are they playing?
00:22:53
Are they playing this week?
00:22:55
They're playing UMass.
00:22:57
Oh, okay.
00:22:58
Well, you know, Paul, I'm learning something.
00:23:03
I've seen it from before the season started.
00:23:06
There are so many teams that people just have dismissed as being losses and a win for a certain team and a loss.
00:23:14
And in some, in many cases, it's proven to not be true.
00:23:18
No, we've seen a tremendous upheaval.
00:23:23
Hey, thank you very much, Vance.
00:23:25
John is up next.
00:23:27
Hey, good afternoon and I'm very much looking forward to your red river rivalry visit in the state fair.
00:23:33
I know it's been on your calendar for a couple of years.
00:23:36
Do you think it's wrong to me to work cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and a Roy Rogers outfit tomorrow?
00:23:41
Should blend in.
00:23:42
Bring the horse, too.
00:23:44
Well, of course.
00:23:46
I'm going to do the entire show on on on on a white horse.
00:23:52
A great show today.
00:23:53
And I appreciate the infomercial, but it's hurricane season in the south.
00:23:59
And just like implored, everyone just got their place pressure wash yesterday, including Tropicana Field.
00:24:05
Did you see the news on that?
00:24:07
Good.
00:24:07
I saw that.
00:24:08
Frank is up next in San Antonio.
00:24:12
Hey, Frank.
00:24:15
Hey, Paul, how are you today?
00:24:17
We're doing great.
00:24:18
Thank you.
00:24:18
Good.
00:24:19
I just talked to your man first.
00:24:20
I'm going to try to come see you guys.
00:24:22
I'm flying up there tomorrow.
00:24:23
I got season 10 to the long ones.
00:24:24
I'll be up at the state fair.
00:24:26
So I hope to meet you tomorrow.
00:24:27
Maybe get a photo with you.
00:24:28
Thank you.
00:24:28
I love that.
00:24:29
I call it be great to meet you.
00:24:32
Hey, so I just want to say a few comments on the guy from Tennessee saying that whoever's not a championship team, that young kid, Braxton, Tennessee is going to get hammered when they play Alabama.
00:24:42
Tennessee has played one decent team the whole season, Arkansas, and they got walloped.
00:24:48
So they they need to start an A&M.
00:24:51
Remember that bowling green game and they also got shut down when they played against Notre Dame and Notre Dame is not a very good team.
00:24:57
I think what the problem is with a lot of these teams, these lower level teams like A&M is a lower level team.
00:25:03
Tennessee is a lower level team.
00:25:05
They win like one game, but they don't beat the big teams and play good when it counts.
00:25:09
So and I will say this, I think the Texas OU game, I think Texas is the best team in the SEC, but we're not going to undefeated.
00:25:16
Nobody in the SEC is going to go undefeated.
00:25:19
I just hope Texas is not looking ahead tomorrow when they play or Saturday, excuse me, when they play Oklahoma, looking ahead to that Georgia game that we catch that because that game for Georgia is going to be do or die because if Georgia loses to Texas,
00:25:30
I have to dirty lost style.
00:25:32
Alabama, they're not going to make the playoffs.
00:25:34
But other game to Missouri, Missouri should have had that in last prediction.
00:25:38
I'll make I think Kentucky's going to manhandle available tomorrow.
00:25:41
But anyway, have a good day.
00:25:43
Great show.
00:25:43
I look forward to meeting you Friday.
00:25:45
Thank you.
00:25:45
I cannot wait.
00:25:46
You bet.
00:25:47
Talk to you tomorrow.
00:25:48
Brubs is next in Shilla Delphiah.
00:25:49
Hello, brubs.
00:25:50
Hi, Mr.
00:25:51
Powell.
00:25:52
How are you?
00:25:53
We're doing great.
00:25:53
Good.
00:25:54
Oh, I'm sorry about my dog.
00:25:57
Listen, quick question.
00:25:58
The misses is from Gatorsville and she is a big gator fan in what they say.
00:26:03
Happy wife, happy life.
00:26:05
So do you think the Gators have any chance against Tennessee?
00:26:09
No idea.
00:26:09
Lord, no, well, that's not going to be good for me just Paul.
00:26:14
Well, I mean, listen, I don't, I'm not a typical person where I, you know, I give you all the reasons why it could be true, but it won't be.
00:26:25
I'm just my gut feeling is no.
00:26:27
Well, thank you very much, Mr.
00:26:30
Powell.
00:26:30
I appreciate your time.
00:26:31
Good show.
00:26:31
It didn't mean to ruin your day.
00:26:33
I've seen a lot of Florida this year.
00:26:38
Thank you for the call.
00:26:39
And let's head back to Texas.
00:26:42
We seem to be spending time there lately expired is up next.
00:26:46
Paul, who's that guy just called saying that A&M's a lower level team?
00:26:52
That's right.
00:26:52
What was the name?
00:26:53
Paul, he just went into a whole segment talking about A&M being a lower level team.
00:27:06
Then he said that Texas might have might end up with a loss.
00:27:14
And then he's talking about a not a very good Oklahoma team right now because they have six starters out.
00:27:20
It being a good game after they just came off a game where Mississippi State ran for 200 yards on them.
00:27:27
What the hell is wrong with that dude?
00:27:29
What's he talking about Paul?
00:27:31
Can you explain that to me?
00:27:33
I can't.
00:27:33
And he's going to talk about Notre Dame not being very good.
00:27:38
And bowling green, I'm going to tell you right now, bowling green is a hell of a lot better in Mississippi State.
00:27:43
And y'all struggle with Mississippi State, you knucklehead.
00:27:45
So let me tell you something.
00:27:47
They'll call in here on Monday.
00:27:49
They'll call in here on Monday and say, well, we're just glad to get out of there in this rivalry game with the victory over Oklahoma because you know how rivalry games go.
00:28:00
This isn't a rivalry game guys.
00:28:02
This is a game where Texas is pretty damn healthy.
00:28:06
Sep 4, of course, they lost a couple of backs early in the season.
00:28:09
And at Oklahoma team that I don't know what it's like they got chopped up, bandit, or so many people hurt.
00:28:16
They're a walking mass unit.
00:28:18
And I'm not taking up for Oklahoma, but if we're sooner plays with Texas, Texas, you have a problem.
00:28:25
I can't believe what I just heard and a great thing about this weekend and whoever that clown wasn't called to clowns to call to go Paul.
00:28:32
The great thing is, look who's leading the SEC right now.
00:28:37
And on Monday morning, look who's leading the SEC.
00:28:40
It's going to be the same damn team that fighting Texas Aggies.
00:28:43
So hey, squirrel nuts, grow some.
00:28:46
Have a great day.
00:28:47
Paul is up next.
00:28:51
Hey, Paul.
00:28:51
Hi, Paul.
00:28:53
Thanks for taking my call.
00:28:55
Thank you.
00:28:55
So I'm a gator.
00:28:56
And of course, I'm happy about our two victories in a row here.
00:29:01
And I'm also supportive of what Spurrier said about, you know, giving the guys each the season because one of the lessons it seems to last couple of weeks is that there may be a chance for us to have in more games than people thought just from how others are playing.
00:29:21
And in regards to the two mentioned two of the mentioned coaches, I guess the fellow in Mississippi and the fellow in Kentucky, their job application isn't been looking that good.
00:29:33
So I hope people are paying attention to that, but that said about the two quarterbacks.
00:29:41
What I would like to see is maybe is there someone out there like we actually know something, perhaps Steve who,
00:29:52
Spurrier, who we had the two quarterbacks or someone else that is her a way that two quarterbacks work.
00:29:59
Because everybody says it doesn't work.
00:30:03
You have two quarterbacks.
00:30:04
I mean, Spurrier is one of the few people I've ever seen do it.
00:30:07
And you know, as you remember, Spurrier, one time, he rotated them every play.
00:30:11
He told us that when we were with him a couple of weeks ago in Gainesville, but I've rarely seen it work.
00:30:18
Me too.
00:30:19
And so we've won a couple of games.
00:30:21
So I'll give that.
00:30:23
And for me, all I can wrestle with in terms of how it could work is if you have two different cores of, say, five players in the quarterback that rotate in and out.
00:30:35
And by that, I mean some blockers that kind of know what to do on that particular quarterback.
00:30:43
And see, I don't think anybody approaches it with, okay, this is what we got.
00:30:47
So how do we make it work rather than have two guys doing the same offense?
00:30:52
Great to hear from you.
00:30:53
Thank you very much.
00:30:55
We headed the break.
00:30:56
Special guest coming up top of the hour.
00:30:58
We've had a busy show already.
00:31:00
Tomorrow live from the state fairgrounds in Dallas.
00:31:11
Yeah,
00:31:31
we have a number of games the Command Center broadcast for the first game.
00:31:35
State at Georgia middle of the afternoon and then prime time in Kentucky.
00:31:40
And let's check out shine time in Tennessee.
00:31:48
Good afternoon to Grace, ball time, ball, ball, ball.
00:31:52
Thank you.
00:31:53
Paul, where are you going to be in Knoxville?
00:31:56
Very soon.
00:31:58
How about that?
00:32:01
It sounds great.
00:32:03
When can we get Bratton and cousin shame back on the show?
00:32:07
Very soon.
00:32:08
Good.
00:32:09
Now, the worst play of the football season so far and I'll take, we'll take ownership the balls.
00:32:18
But we have got to throw the ball on fork down and time expiring.
00:32:24
So we'll take that ownership.
00:32:26
Tennessee is not going to be the floppy top.
00:32:30
It's going to be rocky top, this Saturday, Paul.
00:32:34
And then it won't come in about some callers.
00:32:38
John, I told you to get a Biden mask.
00:32:41
Get you one.
00:32:42
Jim, you won't never show your face.
00:32:45
Show your age.
00:32:47
Tell the truth.
00:32:48
You don't do nothing.
00:32:49
But if you ever show a face, Jim, get a tumult of my ass.
00:32:55
Go balls, Paul.
00:32:56
What a mask wearing here.
00:32:59
Let's continue with Boba.
00:33:04
Go right ahead, Boba.
00:33:05
Paul, Paul, Paul.
00:33:07
I just want to start by saying those knuckleheads from Texas saying that the Irish aren't good this year.
00:33:14
That's exactly what they are.
00:33:15
There's some knuckleheads.
00:33:16
But I got a question for you, Paul.
00:33:18
I want to know what head coach you think is going to last longer in their current position.
00:33:22
Is it going to be Brian Kelly down to LSU or Marcus Freeman up at Notre Dame?
00:33:26
Because Kelly left Notre Dame saying that it's easier to win down south, easier to win in the SEC.
00:33:31
And aside from maintenance for the conference championship game as first year, he hasn't done much.
00:33:36
And although he's undefeated in the comments right now, I see two or three more losses on that schedule in the conference.
00:33:41
And Marcus Freeman, he's got an easy pass to the playoffs.
00:33:44
So I want to know what your thoughts are on that.
00:33:46
Well, I think they're both in really good shape where they are.
00:33:50
So I don't see either one of them leaving anywhere.
00:33:54
But do you see the fan base pushing them out for you at the school?
00:34:00
No.
00:34:00
Listen, Brian Kelly has a number one recruiting class in the country, I think, for next year.
00:34:06
So that's that's enough fuel to keep them going in the event that they don't make the playoffs.
00:34:12
And I think Marcus Freeman has done okay.
00:34:14
He did lose the NIU.
00:34:16
That was a pretty nasty loss.
00:34:18
So he's not in the playoffs yet.
00:34:20
He might be though.
00:34:21
Hey, thank you for the call.
00:34:22
Appreciate it.
00:34:23
And let's check in with Rich, who is up next.
00:34:26
Hey Rich.
00:34:27
Hey Paul, how's it going?
00:34:30
Very well.
00:34:30
Thank you.
00:34:31
Awesome.
00:34:32
So I'm a Texas A&M fan, but the team I wanted to talk about today that I feel like has not gotten much publicity in terms of a team and just kind of the quietest team in the top 15 is LSU.
00:34:47
And we have a big showdown with them in a couple of weeks in Cal field and trying to learn a little more about them this year and realizing there really isn't that much,
00:34:58
you know, still up in the air on how good Southern California is and South Carolina.
00:35:03
Two teams they played and went one and one, but as I'm looking the next four weeks over with last week, how it panned out, I think LSU has probably the biggest gauntlet of a stretch of teams coming up with hosting two top 10 teams and Alabama and Ole Miss.
00:35:25
And then they're away twice at Arkansas and Texas A&M, two places that just hosted top 10 upsets this past weekend and wanted to get your thoughts on what do you think that their fan base is going to be ceiling in four weeks and do you see a ceiling higher than two and two for them in these next four weeks?
00:35:47
Yeah, I mean, I think everything, I think Saturday night is everything unless you can win that game, then it puts them in a position to negotiate Arkansas and A&M and really roll the dice against Alabama,
00:36:01
but I think a loss here would potentially be cataclysmic for their season.
00:36:08
Yeah, I do too and it just going off the last caller talking about even job security on a four and one team, Brian Kelly to your point, you know, great recruiting class.
00:36:18
I'm just wondering how much, you know, if they go one and three in this stretch, wherever that one when comes from how much those talks are going to pick up.
00:36:27
Once I got to know about LSU fans, they're fantastic fans, but when they smell blood, they will come hard and that's the dilemma.
00:36:41
And yeah, really most people I know like Ole Miss in this game because they're favored and they at least for the moment have a little bit of momentum.
00:36:51
Why LSU has just been a tough watch so far this year.
00:36:54
Yeah, and you know, again, being an A&M fan, it just would be a great outcome for me to see them go through a similar scenario with Jimbo in a large buyout.
00:37:05
So you know where I'm leaning in terms of the hopes, but so I'm going through all that.
00:37:10
I understand that and A&M is one of those schools that right now is is on an incredible high for good reason, but you know, I'm talking to Brian Keller the other day.
00:37:21
I mean, it was like he needed that week off because this game last year got away from them.
00:37:28
They had the game one in Oxford.
00:37:30
It really cost them greatly.
00:37:32
They won the game two years ago, which was really the breakthrough win, which helped set up the win over Alabama.
00:37:37
Hey, thank you for the call.
00:37:38
We head to the break.
00:37:39
We have a special guest coming up next.
00:37:41
You may have heard of Heather McMahon.
00:37:44
Stick around.
00:37:45
[BLANK_AUDIO]
00:37:55
