David is the author of the 2013 whitepaper "The General Theory of Decentralized Applications, Dapps" which defined for the first the Dapps model for building public blockchains & tokenized open source applications. This monumental paper laid the groundwork for smart contracts, meta protocols like the world's largest stablecoin Tether's Omni layer, and programmable cryptocurrencies like Ethereum. In 2014 he coined Johnston's Law: "Everything that can be decentralized, will be decentralized."
