The compass is an instrument that serves to orient oneself and that its foundation is based mainly on the property of magnetized needles.

Magnetic north is indicated through a magnetized needle, which is slightly different in each area of the planet. It is also different from geographic north.

The magnetized needle indicates the direction of the Earth's magnetic field, pointing towards the North Pole and South Pole.

As a curious note, it must be said that there are only two areas of the world where it is not useful, at the poles.
