Gautam is the Founder and CEO of inkl, a news service that bundles coverage from the world’s best publishers (like The New York Times and Financial Times) into a single subscription. Originally from India, Gautam spent his 20s studying and working in the US. After completing an MBA from Wharton, he worked as a management consultant before moving to Australia in 2008. Soon after, he joined Fairfax Media to lead the Strategy, Data, and Research teams. At Fairfax, Gautam led the launch of paywalls for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, and of smh.tv (the precursor to Stan). Gautam started inkl to make access to reliable information easy, fast and affordable for readers around the world. inkl’s goal is to help readers stay on top of rapidly growing information needs while also circumventing fake news and clickbait. Gautam believes inkl’s model can also help publishers find a path to sustainability by creating a news service that more readers around the world will be willing to pay for.
