What roles do images and memes have in modern democratic practices? How can we teach algorithms to recognize political cues in images? And why are many images connected to climate change actually images of people?

Juulia Heikkinen and Vasileios Maltezos have been working together on a CSD project called ImagiDem, in which computational methods are applied to sociological research. The project analyses images and memes posted on social media, and follows young people's visual ways of participation as part of their everyday actions, in order to formulate a model of democratic practices of the 2020s.
