20 years ago, Hurricane Katrina became a large and extremely powerful hurricane that caused enormous destruction and significant loss of life. Following Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has demonstrated remarkable resilience, working to rebuild and renew.
The disaster highlighted critical lessons about infrastructure, emergency response, and disaster preparedness. The storm also exposed and forced a confrontation with long-standing social inequalities and inequalities inside of the city and region. One thing that has been tough and often overlooked is the ability, for people that lived through it, to share their stories….until now.
