Description

Born and raised in Niagara Falls Ontario, Darla hung onto silver linings as a way of life as a little girl.  She grew up fast and went onto Mcmaster University for Health Science followed by a career as a behaviour support specialist for individuals residing in a home living with Autism and dual diagnosis for 12 years.  She  was then accepted into a private paramedic  program.  Motivationally spoke in elementary schools,  troubled youth and University pre-med students. A creative soul  she writes poetry and  wrote wellness articles  for a local magazine.   Currently, she has relocated to Nova Scotia and works for the Department of Justice, helping victims and their families navigate through the criminal court processes while providing support in court for victims of  crime.  Recently she received a promotion and now works in a specialized court for victims of Domestic Violence.

At age 40 she met the love of her life.

At age 43 pregnant was the last thing she thought she would be, but God is the best of planners and the disposer of all affairs. She is a Mother, and suddenly every word and credential that came before this seems to pale in comparison now.

She is a Mother.

Darla's episode is one for the books! Darla shares her story medicine with us from her maiden, to mother, and the deep loss, the death of the crone and matriarch of her & her husband's family, while Darla was pregnant with her first son Mahdi. Darla shares with us the journey she took to Lebanon to bury her mother in law while 7 months pregnant, Darla shares her pregnancy outside the system, her beautiful and intense birth with companion Kasia Diana, and losing her eyesight leading up to the birth of her Mahdi. This episode is the poetry of Life. Birth, Death & Love.

It’s also key to note, Darla did not touch on this in episode but worth noting, Madhi was born “small” 5.5 pounds full term, I guess after speaking with family Darla and Abe found out that many of Abe’s family members children were all born around 5 pounds , and all grew into strong, large men!
